YOUTHShare’s aim is twofold: first, to study youth inactivity in the coastal and island regions of Mediterranean EEA, and second, to equip young people who are currently not in employment, education, or training, with crucial skills that will increase their employability. Research-wise, YOUTHShare is funding the completion three PhDs on (a) youth employment patterns, (b) existing policies on youth employability and their effect, and (c) viable pathways for the youth through alternative economic practices. In the frame of the Project, an Online Youth Employment Monitor has been developed, which produces maps and tabulations for youth employment data. Training-wise, the Project will have organized 3 seminar cycles in 4 countries (Greece, Cyprus, Spain, Italy) before its completion, which utilize an e-learning platform and training manuals/handbooks for participants to develop skills in certain resilient sectors (e.g., agri-food production), the social economy, and the sharing/web-based economy. Moreover, the Project has funded multiple apprenticeships for seminar participants, developed an Online Employment Center which brings job seekers and employers in contact, and provides continuous mentoring services to aspiring social entrepreneurs.
