The Labour Geography Research Lab, in addition to the high calibre research activities delivered in the framework of funded projects, offers a number of other activities.
International organisations, Government actors, Regional authorities, Municipalities, Private entities with an interest in local development, and other Stakeholders are invited to ask the Lab’s support in designing and conducting research, tailor-made upon their particular needs.
Impact studies assess the effects of a specific action, intervention or occurrence and the changes it is expected to bring about. They are particularly important in terms of policy development in terms of assessing previous policies and deciding on ways to improve on them. The Lab’s experience and expertise can ensure meaningful and accurate policy assessments within the field of Labour Geography for any interested stakeholder.
The LGRL is always open to collaborations and knowledge exchanges. The Lab has undertaken numerous research tasks on behalf of collaborating institutions; its expertise and capacity are at the disposal of all kinds of stakeholders requiring support in research and analysis.
Data visualisation is important, not only for dissemination and popularisation of scientific results, but also as a tool for researchers themselves to navigate and make sense of complicated datasets. Through previous projects, the LGRL has proven experience in both data analysis and visualisation. The e-Reslab Observatory is an example, providing regularly updated, publicly available, clear and accurate maps detailing a wide variety of data concerning the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects.
The Laboratory’s Research Team has been conducting a number of training programs, available both in-person and through e-learning platforms, on topics related to labour markets and new forms of economies, including social, solidarity, and circular economies. These training programs are being delivered through funded projects of the University of the Aegean’s Lifelong Learning Centre or Public Adult Education institutions, and participation is free of charge.
In addition, the laboratory regularly provides internship opportunities, as a part of its funded research projects. These internships are related to the lab’s research interests, including youth unemployment and unemployment of vulnerable groups, social economy, and gentrification. Also, interns have the opportunity to engage, work, and gain skills in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Labour Geography Lab is not only at the forefront of research in the field of labour geography, but also actively engages with the broader public through various media channels. Our team has contributed insightful articles to esteemed newspapers, offering expert perspectives on critical issues. Moreover, we take pride in our consistent effort to disseminate timely and relevant information through frequent press releases, ensuring that our research reaches a wider audience and fosters informed discussions on the evolving landscape of labour geography.
