Short description

The Project studied Greece’s rising unemployment and underemployment in the aftermath of the 2008/09 Global Crisis, focusing on the young and women. The Project comprised a research part followed by a policy one, maintaining a multi-scalar approach. Specifically, the Project first studied non-voluntary part-time work at the regional level for all Greek regions. Second, the Project provided territory-specific accounts of un/underemployment patterns for four Greek municipalities (Sparta, Tripoli, Rhodes and Kastoria), which were chosen as they represented a range of different growth patterns and production specialisations within the national context. Last, the Project conducted a participatory action research involving labour, businesses, and other local stakeholders, aiming at the development of appropriate employability-fostering strategies within the context of sustainable economic recovery.
