Short description

Cowork4YOUTH studies youth employment in less developed EEA regions, putting increased attention on four focus countries (Greece, Italy, Spain, and Ireland) and two types of non-metropolitan vulnerable regions therein (tourism-dependent and energy-transitioning regions). The Project is research-focused, conducting secondary, primary, and policy analysis. Primary analysis draws upon an extensive fieldwork on coworking spaces across numerous EEA regions focusing on NEETs between 25-29, with a particular emphasis on young mothers and the long-term unemployed. Primary and secondary data are uploaded to an Online Observatory that is divided in three tabs, with each one referring to a different scale of analysis: one tab contains maps and graphs for pan-EU youth employment trends, one tab contains more granular employment data dedicated to the Project’s focus countries/regions, and one tab is dedicated to an energy transitioning region as a case study (Western Macedonia, Greece), containing a robust set of employment, environmental, and topographical data. In Cowork4YOUTH, the Labour Geography Research Lab develops the Online Observatory and has a key role in secondary analyses.
