Short description

The Project studies how tensions in resettlement policy effect the meaning and relevance of vulnerability in resettlement and vice versa, and how these dynamics shape Norway’s implementation of resettlement programs and selection criteria. Specifically, the Project conducts four case studies referring to Norwegian resettlement missions in Uganda, Lebanon, Rwanda and Greece. Based on empirical data, the Project explores the theoretical and policy implications of its main research question, advancing the conceptualization of vulnerability in forced migration studies and related disciplines. For this Project, the Labour Geography Research Lab conducts fieldwork in the island of Lesvos, Greece, engaging with migrants, asylum seekers, and various stakeholders around the migration issue such as lawyers and field officers from NGOs.
