The Labour Geography Research Laboratory is excited to announce the release of a brand-new scientific paper!

First page of the paper entitled: Linking labour regimes and socio-ecological fixes: the low-carbon transition of electricity production in Greece

Our latest paper entitled “Linking labour regimes and socio-ecological fixes: the low-carbon transition of electricity production in Greece,” has just been published in the Journal of Economic Geography (Oxford University Press).

The paper explores how Greece’s transition from coal to renewable energy reorganizes capital-labour relations. The results show that the transition follows a profit-driven, path-dependent logic, leading to land grabbing for renewables and the use of precarious labour. At the same time, local authorities, unions, and grassroots movements appear to resist or challenge these dominant power dynamics.
