Interview at the TV Show “Syndeseis”

On August 14, our laboratory presented and discussed the results of the research conducted within the framework of the Inclusive Urban Societies project, on the TV show  “Syndeseis”. The results focused on the link between short-term rentals and rising rents in neighborhoods of Athens and Thessaloniki.

Postdoctoral researcher and member of the laboratory, Kostas Gourzis, highlighted the key points of the research, noting that for the period covered by the study (2023-2024) :

🔸There is a close statistical correlation between the density of short-term rentals and high rents in Athens.
🔹Rents are closely linked to prices per night in Thessaloniki; the more expensive the accommodation, the greater the likelihood of a rent increase.
And
🔸For every 100 short-term rental properties added to a neighborhoods of the Municipality of Athens, rental prices increase by 2%.
