Dr. Vasiliki Krommyda holds a Diploma in Planning and Regional Development from the School of Engineering at the University of Thessaly, and a Master’s Degree in ‘Environment and Development’ from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). She attained her PhD from the Dept. of Geography and Regional Planning of the School of Rural, Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering at NTUA. Her doctoral research focused on the intricate relationship between precarious labour regimes and energy transition, with a specific focus on the region of Western Macedonia in Greece. She received a long-term scholarship for her PhD from the Special Account for Research Funding (E.L.K.E.) of NTUA and in 2023, she was awarded a short-term mobility scholarship by the Greek State Scholarships Foundation, the British Council, and the British Embassy in Athens to continue her doctoral research in the University of Sussex Business School, UK. Her research interests encompass various areas, including geographical political economy, political ecology, labour geography, environmental labour studies and spatial planning. She has been involved in numerous national and international projects, and she has worked as a researcher for the National Labour Market Diagnosis Mechanism at the National Institute of Labour and Human Recourses. Currently, she is an Adjunct Lecturer and researcher at the University of the Aegean and a post-doctoral research fellow at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
