The new book written in Greek and titled ” Ήπιες δεξιότητες και μετασχηματισμοί της εργασίας. Θεωρητικές και εμπειρικές προσεγγίσεις” (freely translated as “Soft skills and labour restructuring. Theoretical and empirical approaches“) explores how soft skills (combined with technical skills), play a crucial role in the integration, staying, and professional development of the individuals, in the context of today’s precarious and rapidly changing labour market.
Our Laboratory contributed to the composition of the book, by writing the 1st chapter entitled “Κριτική προσέγγιση της σχέσης ανθρώπινου κεφαλαίου και άνισης ανάπτυξης: Μια συγκριτική ανάλυση των αναντιστοιχιών των δεξιοτήτων (skills mismathces) σε περιφερειακό επίπεδο” (“A critical approach to the link between human capital and uneven development: A comparative analysis of skills mismatches at the regional level” in English). In this chapter
The chapter aims to provide a comparative analysis at the regional level covering the period of recession that followed the global crisis of 2008-2009 and the pandemic, in five European Union countries with different socio-economic contexts, with a particular focus on the regions where the universities of the European Alliance for Innovation are located. The findings highlight the uneven geography and skills gap, as robust and innovative economies tend to allocate their workforce more efficiently than regional areas.
